Battery Cell Tester

High-Precision Lithium Battery Charge & Discharge Test Solution Provider

Lithium battery charge discharge tester is a key equipment in lithium battery production, used for capacity testing, cycle life evaluation and performance sorting of battery cells. It supports multiple modes such as constant current constant voltage (CC-CV) and pulse charge and discharge to ensure accurate and reliable battery data.

Applications

  • Cell Grading: Capacity screening for mass production
  • Cycle Testing: Lifecycle evaluation
  • R&D Validation: Performance testing for new materials/processes
  • Second-life grouping: Build uniform packs for ESS/low-speed EVs
  • End-of-life cell screening: Identify reusable cells by testing residual capacity

Quality Control Measures of Battery Cell Tester

Engineers can only guarantee quality assurance during the development and production of the battery pack. Once the battery pack is assembled and tested to meet rigorous standards, it then falls onto the customer to further ensure quality assurance. How the battery is handled, shipped, stored, and used can impact the quality of the battery. Improper storage, transportation, and usage could result in damage, malfunctions, and serious safety concerns.

The battery manufacturer's customer should also understand that any future upgrades to their device could impact the performance and safety of the current custom battery pack. When these changes are made, testing and quality assurance measures should again be performed on the custom battery pack.

FAQ

Q: Do battery testers really work?

A: While modern battery testers tend to have a good degree of accuracy, it is best to keep in mind that they are intended for indication only. Higher-quality testers will usually provide more accurate readings and may also offer additional features, depending on the model.

Q: How do you read a battery cell?

A: The battery's capacity is measured in Ampere-hours (Ah) on the x-axis and is the product of the current consumption multiplied by the hours to discharge the battery down to 2.0 V. (Ah = Current X Hours to Discharge down to 2.0 V.)

Q: What are the two types of battery testers?

A: Electronic testers can accurately test discharged batteries, so they save time. Load testers require the battery to be above 85% State of Charge (SoC) to get an accurate reading.

Q: At what voltage is a 12V battery dead?

A: A fully charged battery should register at 12.7 volts or more. If the voltage falls below this number, the battery should be recharged. A battery is only charged by one quarter at just 12 volts. Once it drops to 11.9 volts, your battery is considered dead.

Q: How do I choose a battery tester?

A: Consider the pedigree of the product – you are looking for accuracy, and tried and tested products with good-quality industry-led approvals. You want endorsement from the industry, peers and customers. Make sure that the unit you are buying is robust enough to deal with the day-to-day use and abuse of a busy workshop.

Q: Are handheld battery testers accurate?

A: The test method is fundamentally different from the laboratory tests that we as a manufacturer use in the development and validation of the battery. Therefore a battery test of a handheld tester can never be 100% accurate.

Q: Is a voltage tester the same as a battery tester?

A: Battery testers are electronic devices designed to test the remaining capacity of a battery's overall charge. Contrary to popular belief, they do not test the voltage – simply the remaining capacity.
